The Hamilton County Department of Environmental Services houses both the Solid Waste Management District and the Air Quality Management Division.
The Air Quality Management Division works with local, state and federal government agencies, businesses, communities and citizens to achieve and maintain healthy air quality. The Hamilton County Solid Waste Management District provides environmental leadership to promote the public good through innovative strategies leading to the management of all waste.

One way to become a society that generates zero waste is through recycling. We all know recycling is a good thing to do because the materials you recycle are then made into new products. By purchasing these materials, you are closing the recycling loop. Many every-day products you use are made out of recycled content materials.

Air … you may not think about it every day, but we need it and to help keep our air as clean and healthy as possible, the Air Quality Management Division of Environmental Services provides a variety of services and programs for the residents of Southwest Ohio.
The Air Quality Management Division (AQMD) works with government agencies, businesses, communities and citizens to achieve and maintain healthy air quality for Southwest Ohio. The AQMD serves Butler, Clermont, Hamilton and Warren counties.

HCDOES issues a smog alert when conditions are favorable for the formation of smog. Additional smog alert information, including statistics, procedures and related links, is provided.
Outreach and Education
To further serve the community, businesses, schools and environmental organizations of the four county area, HCDOES has developed an air quality outreach and education program. The program focuses on providing programs and resources, including a business and community newsletter called The Breeze, and many other publications.
